West Ham United and Alan Curbishley
I have supported West Ham United ever since I knew what football was, but I now have some problems with my beloved football club. I still believe that Alan Curbishley is a great manager, but I am not sure he is currently meeting the needs of the West Ham faithful. We have now finished the 2007/2008 season in tenth place in the Premier League, which in recent seasons would be a good finish. However, with the money Curbs had at his disposal I believe he could have done much better this season. Instead of paying mediocre and over the hill players like Lucas Neil and Matthew Upson, Freddie Ljungberg and Nobby Solano, exorbatent amounts of money per week for playing occassionaly. I believe the West Ham way would be to pick up young and promising players from lower leagues and bring them through "The Academy of Football" as we are affectionately known throughout world football. I fear that the new board will panic at the start of next season and will not allow Curbs anymore money to improve the team and will expect him to rely on his older players and the now unsettled players such as Bobby Zamora, Dean Ashton and Mark Noble. Are we really the same club that signed Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano a couple of seasons ago, but please don't even get me started on that saga - How can any Manager not fit those two world class players into their side? If you love West Ham as much as I do - I hope you are as concerened as I am about our club and our Manager. |
